United Kingdom: Explore how psychologists, dieticians, and OTs support families affected by eating disorders. Advance your skills with our psychology courses.
This course, presented by psychologists, dieticians and an occupational therapist, focuses on supporting families through eating disorder recovery, including food fights and family conflict. UK practitioners will gain a sense of what to cover when working with parents and loved ones: definitions of eating disorders, typical family dynamics and ways to respond, and why Health at Every Size and intuitive eating are favoured approaches to food and weight. It also offers self-care and emotional regulation tips for family members and simple guidance on what to say and avoid saying to someone struggling. It finishes with frequently asked questions, and may be logged as a learning activity in an HCPC CPD record.
