Dreams have held deep significance across past civilisations, and this introductory course examines the traditional view that they represent our unconscious thoughts, feelings, conflicts, fears and aspirations. UK practitioners will study the structure of dream narratives, including sequence, plot development and shifting perspectives, and look at how dream characters function symbolically. Recurring motifs such as flying and falling are categorised, and established interpretive principles are applied to distinguish literal from symbolic content.
