Psycho-oncology has been in existence for four decades and is a sub-body within Oncology. It has a focus on the psychological aspects of the treatment and management of patients with cancer. The research and practice of psycho-oncology contributes towards managing patients within a holistic framework, promoting optimal outcomes and supporting cancer patients through experiences which can be frightening and difficult.
